The Society holds its Late Summer Show in August each year and is an opportunity
for growers to showcase their vegetables, fruit and flowers. The event, which began
in 1961, was originally known as the Autumn Show and took place in early September
but in the mid-nineties the decision was taken to bring it forward to mid-August
and it was re titled accordingly. Over the years the format has been updated a little
to reflect changing interests – the introduction of classes for photography and handicraft
for example - but efforts have been made to retain the original charm of the event.
The next show will be held in Hersham Village Hall in August 2017.
This was introduced in 1986 to allow members to exhibit daffodils and other spring
flowers but regrettably we had to say goodbye to it in 2013 as changing weather patterns
meant that we could no longer be certain of having sufficient flowers on the day
to make a good show. However, in 2015 we are introducing “A Taste of Spring” which
whilst not replacing the show will celebrate all that is good about Spring
