Trading Hut

The Trading Hut is now open every Saturday morning from 9.15am until 11.30am and on Thursday morning from 10.00am and noon.

The Hut stocks a wide range of manures and composts and the complete range of commercial fertilizers. Inside the shop we have a range of sundries rivaling that of any Garden Centre but our prices are significantly lower. Our bamboo canes come directly from the importer and are vastly superior to those on sale elsewhere. Seed potatoes are supplied from our grower in Scotland ensuring they are top quality and virus free.

Seeds are replaced annually and fresh stock is on the shelves in January ready for the start of the new season. We only stock Kings Seeds who supply the majority of other UK allotments societies and other major seed companies.

In Spring and Autumn we order onion sets, shallots and garlic bulbs ready for planting from Taylors Bulbs, one of the largest suppliers in the UK. We try hard to get the numbers right but inevitably we sell out of some varieties quickly and early purchasing is advised.  

When we order our onion sets for the Spring we select Dahlia tubers which add a little colour to the allotments as well as providing a good supply of cut flowers for home. Different varieties are selected each year which means that you can build up a collection for a very little outlay.

Our July mail shot includes an order form for seed potatoes which, weather permitting, are available for collection in January. We choose a selection of First and Second Earlies, Maincrop and Salad varieties all of which are best suited to our soil conditions. By taking pre-orders we are able to offer them at very competitive prices.
